Alec Bradley Kintsugi
Alec Bradley Kintsugi cigars are named for the 15th century Japanese artform of restoring broken pottery and making it beautiful again despite its imperfections. Kintsugi is drafted from a Cuban-seed Honduran wrapper over a complex blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran long-fillers. The critics in Cigar Aficionado ranked Alec Bradley Kintsugi in their annual ‘Top 25’ for 2021 with a 92-point rating. Tasting notes of cinnamon, espresso bean, and hazelnut layer the palate in a medium-bodied finish punctuated by hints of leather and sweetness. Indulge in a collection of classic sizes with another Honduran gem from Alec Bradley.

This one was a little different. First of all, it felt larger in hand than the "Robusto" I ordered, but regardless, this cigar was instantly smooth and light, and stayed that way pretty much the whole time. This is the first cigar where I was able to discern "spice", so that was fun. I docked a star for construction as the first half smoked (I assume) loose. It took some puffing to keep the smoke volume up for the first half of the cigar and then it slowed down to a normal cadence for the second half. I had to adjust the burn twice. Overall, this was fun one to try; Light and smooth. It reminded me of the Connecticut, but I prefer the Connecticut a bit more. The style and presentation of the band is amazing, and I think I was hoping for a bit richer profile from it judging by the style and design alone, but having tried it, it makes sense the way it is.
